The Reading module is designed to improve your comprehension skills through engaging, AI-generated texts. Here's everything you need to know.
How Reading Works
When you generate a reading lesson, the AI creates a passage tailored to your chosen topic and proficiency level. Below the passage, you'll find four comprehension questions that test different aspects of understanding.
Answering Questions
Read the passage carefully, then answer each comprehension question in the text fields below. The questions cover:
- Main idea or central message
- Specific factual details from the text
- Inference or implied meaning
- Vocabulary in context
Click "Submit" to get AI-powered feedback on each of your answers. The feedback tells you whether your answer is correct, provides the expected answer, and offers suggestions for improvement.
Using the Sidebar
The right sidebar is your learning companion while reading. Click any word in the passage to see its translation, definition, and usage examples. Select a phrase to get its translation. This makes it easy to understand unfamiliar vocabulary without leaving the page.
Advanced Controls
When generating a reading passage, click "Advanced Controls" to customize:
- Formality level
- Writing style
- Text length (short, medium, long, or custom word count)
- Tone (humorous, serious, educational, conversational)
- Target audience
- Vocabulary focus
These are all optional - just a topic and level are enough to get started.
