Understanding Language Levels: A1 to C2

Avocado uses the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) levels. Here's what each level means and how to choose the right one.
A1 - Beginner
You can understand and use basic everyday expressions. You can introduce yourself and ask simple questions. Choose A1 if you're just starting out.
A2 - Elementary
You can communicate in simple, routine tasks. You can describe your background, immediate environment, and basic needs. Choose A2 if you know the basics but struggle with real conversations.
B1 - Intermediate
You can deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling. You can produce simple connected text on familiar topics. Choose B1 if you can have basic conversations but want to improve fluency.
B2 - Upper Intermediate
You can interact with a degree of fluency with native speakers. You can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects. Choose B2 if you're comfortable in conversations but want to refine your skills.
C1 - Advanced
You can express ideas fluently and spontaneously. You can use language flexibly for social, academic, and professional purposes. Choose C1 if you're already quite proficient.
C2 - Mastery
You can understand virtually everything heard or read. You can express yourself spontaneously and precisely. Choose C2 for the most challenging content.
Tip: When in doubt, start one level lower than you think. It's better to build confidence with material you mostly understand than to struggle with content that's too difficult.
