Getting Started with Avocado: Your Complete Guide

Welcome to Avocado! This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to start learning effectively.
Setting Up Your Profile
After signing up, head to your Profile page to configure your language settings. Select the language you speak natively - Avocado will automatically set the language you're learning. For example, if you select "German" as your native language, you'll be learning English, and vice versa.
Using the Lesson Builder
The Lesson Builder is your main tool for creating comprehensive lessons. Enter a topic (like "Travel" or "Job Interview") and select your level (A1 through C2). Click Generate, and Avocado will create a full lesson with Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking modules - all tailored to your level.
Using the Skill Builder
If you want to focus on a specific skill, use the Skill Builder instead. Navigate to Skill Builder from the menu, select the skill tab (Reading, Listening, Writing, or Speaking), and generate content for just that skill. This is perfect for targeted practice.
Saving Your Lessons
When you generate a lesson you like, click the Save button at the top of the page. You can find all your saved lessons under "Saved Lessons" in the navigation menu. This way, you can revisit and practice with the same content multiple times.
Tips for Best Results
- Start with your actual proficiency level. If you're a beginner, choose A1 or A2.
- Use specific, interesting topics. "German cuisine and cooking" works better than just "food."
- Practice with all four skills for the most well-rounded learning experience.
- Click on any word in the reading or listening transcripts to get instant translations and explanations.
